Schools Web Design provides intelligent web sites designed to help schools enrich pupils’ learning experience and improve school to parent communications. The web sites are built on a core Content Management System (CMS) that enables authorised users to create, edit move and publish pages and add content including photo-galleries and video.

Security and child protection are paramount in schools’ web sites and these are addressed through an intelligent permissions system. Groups of users are created with sets of permissions allocated to them. Pages can be excluded from view by casual visitors; these may be pages for example with photographs of children or other sensitive content, such pages could be hidden from view except for parents of the class, members of staff and the class teacher.

Class and subject teachers can use the web site to post homework and to upload learning resources and provide links to external information. Students can also use the system to upload and submit homework assignment and course work.

Parent communication is vastly improved: no more rummaging around in the bottom of pupils’ school bags looking for letters home, newsletters and permission slips. All parent communication can be quickly and easily uploaded to the web site and an email can be sent with a link to let parents know it‘s there. The system needs no special software to edit pages, just a web browser, so it’s quick and easy to post announcements such as school closures due to adverse weather conditions from anywhere.

The web site provides a secure message board that enables teachers and parents: teachers can send messages to individual parents or to parents of an entire class. Parents can electronically ‘give permissions’ for their children to take part in school organised activities. This can also be linked to an online payment system to pay for activities if required. The message board can also be used to securely distribute school reports electronically.

Parent and pupil profiles can be held on the system and visible only to authorised users. Parents are able to logon and update their required information including address and contact details.

The web site can integrate with calendar systems including Google® Calendars. These allow parents to be informed of upcoming events and even to subscribe to the calendar so events are automatically synchronised with their own Google® Calendar or Microsoft® Outlook™ Calendar.
